HEALTH INSURANCE

ACRC has several in-house health insurance navigators that can help you get the answers you need when it comes to health insurance options and enrollment!

What is the Affordable Care Act (ACA)?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, is a comprehensive healthcare reform law enacted in March 2010. The ACA has three primary goals:

  • Reduce the number of uninsured Americans by expanding Medicaid eligibility, providing subsidies for private insurance, and creating health insurance marketplaces (exchanges) where individuals can shop for coverage

  • Improve the Quality of Healthcare: The law introduced measures to improve healthcare quality and patient outcomes, including initiatives to promote preventive care and to improve healthcare coordination

  • Control Healthcare Costs: The ACA implemented several provisions designed to slow the growth of healthcare costs, including penalties for hospitals with high readmission rates and incentives for reducing medical errors.
